|
王立アイルランド建築家協会（RIAI）主催のIrish Architecture Awardsは、バラエティーと品質に優れたアイルランドの現代建築を称え表彰するものです。今年は、新興建築事例、公共建物、医療建築およびレジャー建築などの15のカテゴリーに134作品の応募があり、38のプロジェクトが最終選考に残りました。
審査委員長であるエディー・コンロイ氏は、「2011年RIAI Awardsに応募のあった作品の数、質、多様性、そして、個人邸宅、大企業プロジェクトや公共プロジェクトなどの最終選考に残った作品はとても見事でした。」と述べました。
建築家達がどのようにして文化、環境に対する配慮を建築に取り入れたかという点も非常に素晴らしく、また、審査員はクライアントと建築家のコラボレーションが質の高いデザインを生み出し、結果的に私たちが置かれている環境に大きく貢献しているいくつかの良い例を見ることができた、とのことです。
最高賞のBest Accessible Projectに選ばれたのは、アイルランド、ダブリン市ボールスブリッジ地区にある「アビバ・スタジアム」。設計を手掛けたのはScott Tallon Walker ArchitectsとPopulous。『すべてのユーザーグループとのデザインに関する徹底的な話し合いの結果、ユニバーサルデザインが真に具体化されている』点が高く評価されました。
