同賞は、「Design and Life Initiative (Initiative Formund Leben)」の主催によるデザイン賞で、フランクフルトの「Messe Frankfurt GmbH」と「The German Design Council」、ベルリンの「The Association of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce」がスポンサーを努めています。ドイツのフランクフルトで開催されるトレード・ショー「Ambiente」への出展作品が対象です。また、市場に出て2年未満の消費者製品が対象になります。今回は、200社から613点の応募がありました。
